- There was a recipe in this book by Sarah Sophie, that reminded me so much of my grandmother Clara, that I had to make it. You ought to know that I’m not what you would call a chef or a cook even. I can handle breakfast but that’s just about it. The author has listed some really tasty looking cakes here like Peach Upside-Down Cake, Pineapple Upside-Down Cake and Carrot Cake, but the one that I had to make was Strawberry & Rhubarb Cake which is what my grandmother made back in Iowa. I live in Texas now and it was quite the hunt to find rhubarb which I haven’t seen grown here. Of course, she grew her own rhubarb and strawberries so what I made didn’t quite stack up to hers, but it was tasty sure enough. I liked how the author told you how many servings under Makes, Procedure showed exactly how to make the recipe, very detailed, not leaving anything to chance. Next I’m going to make the Peach Upside-Down cake using my own peaches.
